We’re thrilled to welcome Jennifer Sharma as the next Chief Executive Officer of Huckleberry House. With a deep-rooted commitment to serving youth and more than 25 years of leadership experience in housing and human services, Jennifer brings both passion and expertise to this role.
As we look ahead to her official start on June 23, 2025, we wanted to give our community a chance to get to know her. In this brief Q&A, Jennifer shares what drew her to Huckleberry House, what she’s most excited about in the months ahead, and a fun personal detail you might not expect!
What inspired you to join Huckleberry House, and what about our mission resonates most with you?
From my first clinical placement as a graduate student working in a runaway shelter for teenagers, and through two decades of working for child welfare and youth-serving agencies, I have followed my passion for serving at-risk youth. Additionally, I have had the privilege of partnering with Huckleberry House team members to provide permanent supportive housing for transition-aged youth. I have been impressed by the team’s dedication, commitment, and expertise. I am excited to join the team and believe that our collective leadership, wisdom, and experience will create positive results for our clients, the organization, and the community.
As you prepare to step into this role, what are your initial priorities or hopes for your first few months?
My first few months will focus on learning, connecting, and engaging key stakeholders. I intend to meet with the Huckleberry House board, staff, clients, and partners to learn their vision for the organization and their perspectives on the organization’s strengths and growth opportunities. I look forward to connecting with supporters and funders of Huckleberry House. Lastly, I intend to engage the board and staff in strategic planning designed to both strengthen the organization and elevate Huckleberry House’s impact in the community.
What’s something the Huckleberry House community might be surprised to learn about you, either personally or professionally?
I am a firm believer in the value of self-care and wellness activities. I am a certified yoga instructor and a Reiki Master. I’ve taught yoga for 6 years and am trained in Reiki for both people and animals.
We’re thrilled to welcome Jennifer to the Huckleberry House community and look forward to the future we’ll build together under her leadership!
