Donate and Volunteer

Make a donation. Change a life.

Your Support Matters

When you choose to support Huckleberry House with your time and resources, we can provide guidance and assistance to the people in our community who need it most. Donations and volunteers help make a difference between a life of violence, abuse, and poverty, and a life that is productive, meaningful, and fulfilling.

Our work impacts young people who are dealing with difficult and devastating situations who sincerely want to improve their lives—but have no one to show them how. With your help, we can be that lifeline and source of trusted support that so many young people in our community dearly need.

Huckleberry House counts on the generosity of countless individuals and organizations that want to give young people a chance to start making positive choices that lead to a better life. Here’s a look at how your donation can help.

  • A donation of $50 buys 12 daily bus passes so teens can get to school and work.
  • A donation of $100 provides a family counseling session at our Center.
  • A donation of $200 purchases a day’s worth of nutritious meals for all the teens in our shelter.
  • A donation of $500 finances a full week of parenting skills mentorship for our teen parents.
  • A donation of $1,000 helps a homeless youth get set up in an apartment of his or her own.

Volunteer Opportunities at Huck House

Do you share our passion for helping young people and families in our community? Whether it is serving a meal in the shelter, playing games with our teens, or cleaning-up and fixing things around the house, every hour of volunteer service helps Huck House serve the vulnerable youth of Central Ohio better. There is something everyone can do to make a difference and help change lives.

If you have an idea for a special volunteer event or are interested in learning more about volunteer opportunities, please contact the development office at at cargiro@huck-house.org.

Service Day projects include work such as painting, deep cleaning, sorting donations,  landscaping, wrapping holiday presents, and hosting holiday parties.

Some popular Activity Nights include baking, arts and crafts, tie dying, group games, board games and yoga too.

Lunches at the shelter are a great way for groups up to six to prepare and serve food to the teens staying with us.

Groups up to six often prepare a fun dinner like taco night or make your own pizza.
