At Huckleberry House, we believe that community partnerships are essential to ensuring that young people have the support they need to thrive. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce that from February 1 through October 31, Mecha Noodle Bar will donate 50 cents from every bowl of ramen sold at its Columbus location to Huckleberry House.
This initiative is part of Mecha’s Eat Justice program, a mission-driven approach to giving back through their business. We sat down with Mecha’s founders, Tony Pham and Rich Reyes, to talk about Eat Justice, their commitment to using capitalism for good, and, of course, their favorite noodle bowls.
Why is Eat Justice and the “capitalism for good” concept important to you and your business?
From day one, our intention has been to operate a restaurant with the goal to directly serve and positively impact our communities, so, we built it into the Mecha Noodle Bar business model. For every bowl of ramen we sell, $0.50 is given to our community partners, including Huckleberry House.
We’re very proud that since founding Eat Justice in 2015, we’ve raised more than $1 million for our community partners.
Why Huckleberry House?
We asked our Columbus restaurant team to recommend an organization they’d like to support this year, and they enthusiastically selected Huckleberry House. A deep connection to the mission is felt in our team because of personal experience, and it’s our hope that we can work with Huckleberry House in your work to create a future where every young person has the support they need to thrive.
We are honored to be partnering with such a long-standing organization in the community, and we’re excited to get involved in activity nights, sleep out, cooking together and more.
What’s your go-to Mecha bowl?
Tony: I go for the Spicy Beef Ramen, exactly as it is on the menu with brisket, Sichuan chili beef broth, tamago and spinach. It’s inspired by Taiwanese beef soup which usually has tendon, so I’ll add tendon if I feel like I need the extra collagen.
Rich: My go-to is the Super Pho Sizzle. It’s already delicious with the NY strip and chimichurri, but I like to add tendon, greens, Thai chilis, and a roasted marrow bone when I’m feeling lucky. Always extra marrow oil on the side, always!!
Slurp, Support, and Repeat!
We’re incredibly grateful for this partnership with Mecha Noodle Bar and their commitment to giving back. The best part? There’s no need for a code or special mention—every bowl of ramen you order at Mecha’s Columbus location automatically supports Huckleberry House!
So, grab your friends, enjoy a delicious bowl of ramen, and know that you’re helping bowl-d a foundation for young people in our community with every bite. See you at Mecha!
