ON APRIL 20, WE SLE
TO RAISE AWARENESS ABOUT YOUTH HOMELESSNESS
On a cold night, outside on the plaza at COSI, 70 concerned people experienced a small taste of what too many Columbus youth face every night.
HOW WILL MONEY RAISED BY THE SLEEP OUT HELP HOMELESS YOUTH?
The proceeds of the SLEEP OUT! will fund Huckleberry House’s four programs to help young people and their families overcome life’s challenges, including homelessness:
Central Ohio’s only 24/7 crisis shelter for teens
A residential 18-month Transitional Living Program that prepares formerly homeless youth ages 18-22 to live independently in permanent housing
A youth outreach team on the streets each day helping young people connect with the resources they need
A family support program meeting young people and their families where they are – figuratively and literally – to identify strengths and solutions to work through difficult issues
