Transitional Living

The Transitional Living Program helps homeless teens learn how to live safely and successfully in the community. Youth are assigned a Community Support Provider, Independent Living Mentor, and Counselor who assist youth to reach their goals. The Transitional Living Team teaches independent living skills while providing mental health support and secure living arrangements.

This free program is available for teens, minimum age 16 1/2 years old, who are homeless and experiencing mental health issues. Trained professionals teach young people what it takes to be able to live independently and become self-reliant. We strive to prepare youth in accomplishing this goal within 18 months of entering the program.

There are some expectations to living in the Transitional Living Program, such as meeting with a Counselor, going to school, or having a job. Guardian consent is necessary for participation with the program. As with all of the programs of Huckleberry House, Inc., our services are confidential. This means that we don’t share what we’re told unless someone’s immediate safety is at risk.
